Highlights: Game drives, boat ride and walking safari
This is the closest savannah reserve to Kampala. It is centred on a series of swamp fringed lakes known for their rich bird life. Its Acacia woodland harbours populations of zebra, warthog, buffalo, impala and the eland- the largest of African antelope.
Depart for Lake Mburo with a stop over at the equator to experience having a foot in both hemispheres at the same time. Proceed to Lake Mburo National Park arrive in the afternoon at the lodge. Early morning game drive to explore the reserve Return to the camp for a late breakfast. In the afternoon a boat trip excursion is arranged on Lake Mburo to see hippos, crocodiles and various species of birds that may include the secretive African Finfoot. Dinner and overnight. Accommodation at Mihingo Lodge or Mantana Tented Camp (F/B).
Meet with your ranger guide for a 2 hour waking safari before returning to the lodge for a late breakfast. Leave for Kampala with a brief stop at Mpambire Royal drum makers for souvenir shopping. Continue on your return journey and arrive in Kampala late in the afternoon.
After breakfast, set off for Western Uganda. Stop at the equator and experience pacing a foot in both hemispheres at the same time. Be on the look out for the famous long horned Ankole cows to be seen in large herds around the town of Mbarara. Take lunch en-route in Mbarara. Continue the journey to Kabale before entering Kigezi district and it’s fantastic scenery. Arrive in Kisoro on your way to Mgahinga National Park. Dinner and overnight. Accommodation at Mount Gahinga Rest Camp or The Travellers Rest (F/B).

After an early breakfast, set off for the national park for the Golden Monkey tracking activity on one of the three volcanoes that make up the park, (Mt Sabinyo, Mt Gahinga or Mt Muhavura). The monkeys are primarily to be found in the bamboo forest that skirt the lower slopes of the volcanoes. The monkeys are very active in the canopy of the bamboo where your guides mimic their calls to follow the group. These monkeys are habituated to the presence of humans and very good sightings are to enjoyed. In the afternoon time permitting should it be market day in Kisoro this offers a unique cultural experience to enjoy. Alternatively a short nature walk is possible to gain vantage over the town of Kisoro to view the volcanoes and neighbouring Lake Mutanda. Accommodation at Mount Gahinga Rest Camp or The Travellers Rest (F/B).
After breakfast, return to Kampala with a brief stop over at Lake Bunyonyi – the 2nd deepest lake in Africa for photographs. Continue with your return journey and arrive in Kampala in the early evening. Check-in to Kampala hotel or transfer to the airport for your return journey home at your convenience.

Murchison Falls National Park is the countries largest protected area whose palm studded grassland supports populations of lion, buffalo, elephant, Rothchild’s giraffe and one of the few East African strongholds of the spindly plains dwelling Patas monkey. The spectacular water falls are of course the highlight of any visit.
This itinerary can also be undertaken as a 3 day safari.
Start journey to Murchison Falls National Park. Lunch at Masindi before continuing to the top of the falls for a guided nature walk. O/N at Paraa Safari Lodge or Nile Safari Camp (FB).

Depart for early morning game drive on the north bank of the Nile. Return to lodge for lunch. Afternoon launch trip on the Nile to view the falls. An early start. Game drive on your way to Kanyio Pabidi in the Budongo Forest. Experience chimpanzee tracking in the forest with a knowledgeable guide. Lunch at Kanyio Pabidi. Budongo is also known for its many plant and bird species. Continue to Kampala to transfer to Entebbe International Airport at your own convenience for your onward journey.
